CrowdSnap Market Minds Challenge 2024: Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration
The CrowdSnap Market Minds Challenge 2024, organized by the Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with CrowdSnap, was successfully conducted on November 25, 2024, at A8 203. The event served as a platform to enhance undergraduate engagement with real-world industry practices and strengthen ties between academia and professional sectors.
The occasion was graced by Mr. Hasitha Ariyarathna, Founder of CrowdSnap, as the Chief Guest. His address highlighted the importance of integrating academic knowledge with industry needs to create meaningful and sustainable solutions. Prof. Janaka Wijayanayake, Head of the Department of Industrial Management, and Mr. Indika Fernando, along with academic staff, offered their expertise and support, making the event a significant success.
The initiative provided level 2 undergraduates with a unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. Projects were sourced from industry specialists in the hotel, environmental, and social research sectors, offering students the chance to conduct surveys, analyze data, and deliver actionable insights. By leveraging the advanced CrowdSnap platform, participants addressed pressing challenges, honing their analytical and research skills while cultivating teamwork and innovative problem-solving capabilities.
The event is closely aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3), Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (Goal 9).
